Genevieve C. "Jennie" Blommel, age 82 of Grey Eagle, MN died Sunday, June 19, 2005 at Lakeview Ranch in Dassel, MN.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 23 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grey Eagle with Rev. Arlie Sowada officiating. Interment will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery.
Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the St. Joseph's Chapel in Grey Eagle. Christian Mothers, St. Joseph's Catholic Aid and Schanhaar-Otte VFW Post 7050 Auxiliary will pray at 7 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 8 p.m.
Genevieve Blommel was born February 7, 1923 in St. Martin Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to John and Theresia (Blonigen) Arceneau. She was united in marriage to Alphonse Blommel on June 10, 1946 in St. Martin. The couple farmed west of Grey Eagle. Jennie was a homemaker all her life. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, sewing, gardening and reading.
Survivors include her children, Karen Ailie and her husband, Charles of Dassel, Donna Martinson and her husband, Russell of Henning, Colleen Mackereth and her husband, Charles of Kimball, Theresa Pansch and her husband, Joel of Grey Eagle and Joelyn Fredericksen and her husband, Chris of Eden Prairie; 13 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and one great grandson on the way; sisters and brothers, Margaret Hellman and her husband, Innocent of Melrose, Alois Arceneau of St. Martin, Bernard Arceneau and his wife, Joan of Elrosa, Elmer Arceneau and his wife, Lucille of St. Martin and Anna Mae Schneider and her husband, Leo of Meire Grove.
Genevieve was preceded in death by her parents, John and Theresia Arceneau; husband, Alphonse Blommel on August 6, 1991; infant son and daughter; brothers, Edwin, Clarence and Norbert Arceneau; sisters, Hildegard Lemke, Dorothy Wenker, Betty Herzog and Della Feldewerd.
Serving as casket bearers will be Jason Martinson, Andrew Martinson, Reggie Pansch, Adam Ailie, Alyssa Mackereth and Jill Gordon. Serving as cross bearer will be Ross Fredericksen and scripture bearer will be Luke Fredericksen. Gift bearers will be Kimberly Mackereth, Kari Mackereth and Cassie Pansch. Russell Martinson will be the reader. Petitions will be read by Paul Stecker and Liliah Stecker.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
