Geneva M. "Gerleen" Warzecha, age 80 of St. Rosa died Tuesday, April 26, 2005 at Pine Villa Care Center in Melrose. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 29 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in St. Rosa. Private family burial will take place at a later date.
Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose and Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church in St. Rosa. Parish prayers will be at 4 p.m. followed by Christian Mothers at 5 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Geneva Warzecha was born July 16, 1924 in Albany, Minnesota to Ferd and Anna (Litchy) Gretsch. She was united in marriage to Roy R. Warzecha August 26, 1952 in St. Rosa. Geneva was a full time homemaker and a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She faithfully prayed for her loved ones. Geneva enjoyed listening to music, dancing, reading, gardening, doing crossword puzzles and most of all, she'll be remembered as the Scrabble Queen. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in St. Rosa and the Christian Mothers.
She is survived by her husband, Roy Warzecha of St. Rosa; children, Cindy Nevin and her husband, Phil of Ramsey, Ferd Warzecha and his wife, Jane of Westminister, Colorado, Judy Erickson and her husband, Roger of Two Harbors, Tony Warzecha of St. Rosa, Anna Blenker and her husband, Roger of Melrose, Laura Fuchs and her husband, Dan of St. Rosa and Randy Warzecha of Aracaju, Brazil; nine grandchildren; brothers, Ervin Gretsch and his wife, Gloria of Blaine, Merl Gretsch of St. Joseph, Leon Gretsch and his wife, Maxine of Big Fork and Duane Gretsch and his wife, Joyce of Richmond.
Geneva was preceded in death by her parents, Ferd and Anna Gretsch; daughter, Mary Warzecha; and sister-in-law, Fay Gretsch.
Casket bearers will be Tony Warzecha, Randy Warzecha, Phil Nevin, Roger Blenker, Dan Fuchs and Roger Erickson. Cross bearer will be Roger "Junior" Blenker and scripture bearer will be Alex Warzecha. Honorary bearers will be the Christian Mothers.
