Gary Gilbert

Gary L. Gilbert, age 59, of Sauk Centre died Wednesday, February 11, 2004 at his home. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 14, 2004 at 10 a.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Sauk Centre with Rev. Todd Schneider officiating. Private inurnment will take place at St. Paul's Cemetery, Sauk Centre.

Friends may call Saturday at the church one hour prior to the service.

Gary Gilbert was born on November 6, 1944 in Melrose, Minnesota to Nolan and Theresa (Kalla) Gilbert. He graduated from Sauk Centre High School in 1963, and from the University of North Dakota at Ellendale in 1969. He served in the National Guard from 1964 to 1970. Gary taught Physical Education and Industrial Education at Villard High School from 1969-1989. He coached football and basketball, leading Villard to their only District Championship in basketball. He was a founding member of the Collegians softball team. Gary enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Rosalind "Roz" Gilbert of Sauk Centre; nephews, Tim and Jeff Gilbert; and niece Nancy Elmquist.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Jay Gilbert in 1973.
