Frederick Peter Voller, age 83, of Sauk Centre died at the University of Minnesota Hospital in Minneapolis on November 5, 2018.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, November 10th at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Angels Church in Sauk Centre.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, November 9th at Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre and from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. Parish prayers will be held at 7 p.m. followed by a rosary Friday evening at the funeral home.
Fred was born July 4, 1935 in Melrose, Minnesota to Henry and Anna (Rademacher) Voller. Fred graduated from Sauk Centre High School in 1953. He worked for his dad on the farm and in the family Grain Belt beer business until January 1956 when he joined the US Army for two years. He also served in the Minnesota National Guard for three years. After leaving the Army, he returned to Sauk Centre and worked for his father. In November 1958 following his father's death, Fred took on the job of running the farm.
On June 24, 1961, Fred married JoAnn Radermacher. They were blessed with seven children. They lived near Padua and were very involved in St. Anthony of Padua Church for many years, where Fred served as trustee. After living on the farm for 38 years, Fred and JoAnn moved to Sauk Centre. They greatly enjoyed traveling, visiting a total 46 states. They also took trips to Europe, Ireland and Scotland. In retirement, they enjoyed visiting their children and grandchildren.
In retirement, Fred served as usher at Our Lady of Angels Church, delivered Meals on Wheels for almost 15 years, was a member of the Lions' Club, and a charter member of the Knights of Columbus.
Fred thoroughly enjoyed playing cards with his children, grandchildren and friends. He also enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren.
Fred is survived by his seven children; Mark Voller of Omaha, NE, Julie (Daniel) Long of New Ulm, Kathleen (David) Bernhardt of Great Falls, MT, Ruth Boubin of Owatonna, Sara (Mark) Hagen of St. Joseph MO, Thomas (Cynthia) Voller of Kirkwood, MO, and David (Ann) Voller of Montevideo; 27 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; sisters Lorraine Peschel of Sauk Centre and MaryAnn Johnson of Shoreview; brother Rich (Jan) Voller of Duluth; and sisters-in-law Arlene Voller of Annan Lake and Betty Ann Voller of Sauk Centre; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 ½ years; his parents; brothers Bill Voller, Don Voller, and Butch Voller; brothers-in-law Ronald Radermacher, Jim Johnson and Don Peschel; sister-in-law, Natalie Herzog; two grandsons, David Hagen and Christian Long; son-in-law Olda Boubin; and nephew David Herzog.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Holy Family School or Eagle's Healing Nest in Sauk Centre.
