Frederica Korte

Frederica T. "Rica" Korte, age 91 of St. Rosa, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, May 11, 2015 at the Mother of Mercy Nursing Home in Albany, Minnesota.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 15 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in St. Rosa with Rev. Roger Klassen, O.S.B. officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Parish prayers will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.

Frederica Teckla Korte was born June 5, 1923 in Millwood Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Bernard and Adelheid (Klasen) Korte. Rica and her siblings were all raised by their grandparents, John and Anna Klasen. She lived in St. Paul and worked at the U.S. Postal Service for many years until her retirement. Rica moved to St. Cloud after her retirement and volunteered at the Paramount Theater.

She was a former member of St. Mary's Cathedral in St. Cloud and of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in St. Rosa. Rica loved spending time with her nieces and nephews. She also enjoyed playing cards, especially 500, cribbage, playing BINGO, and watching her favorite television program hosted by Sister Angelica.

Survivors include her sisters, Esther Beuning of Melrose and Caroline Bielejeski of Holdingford; brother, Julius Korte of St. Paul; and many nieces and nephews.

Rica was preceded in death by her parents; twin sister, Alice Kerfeld; brothers, Urban and Lawrence Korte; brothers-in-law, Al Beuning, Virgil Kerfeld, and Hubert Bielejeski; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Korte and Eileen Korte; nieces, Georgianna Beuning, Baby Girl Beuning, and Ann Bielejeski; and nephew, Greg Korte.

Serving as casket bearers will be David Kerfeld, Jack Korte, Joe Beuning, Loren Kerfeld, John Bielejeski, and Urban Beuning. Cross bearer will be Mary Haines and scripture bearer will be Geralyn Ottum. Honorary bearers will be Rica's nieces and nephews.
