Frank W. Silbernick 83, of Little Falls died peacefully surrounded by his family on May 12, 2006 at St. Otto's Care Center in Little Falls.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Wed. May 17, 2006 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in St. Rosa, MN with Rev. Robert Rolfes and Rev. Michael VanSloan concelebrating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 pm Tuesday and from 8 to 10 am Wednesday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Parish prayers will be at 7 pm Tuesday at the funeral home in Melrose.
Frank Silbernick was born Dec. 23, 1922 in Greenwald, Minnesota to Joseph and Catherine (Deters) Silbernick. He married Leona M. Toenies on Sept. 28, 1955 in St. Rosa, Minnesota. Frank attended grade school at St. Rosa. He was owner/operator of Silbernick's Bar in St. Rosa from 1954 to 1960. He was then employed at Madden's Pine Edge Inn in Little Falls until 1995. Frank was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and St. Mary's Funeral Choir for many years in Little Falls, Holy Name Society at St. Rose of Lima Church, Apostolate and National Board of the Crosier Apostolate for many years, Parent's Council at the College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph, and a long time promoter of the Miraculous Medal Association. Frank was also a hospitality volunteer at St. Gabriel's Hospital in Little Falls.
Survivors include his wife, Leona Silbernick of Little Falls; children, Karen Smith (Steven) of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Kevin Silbernick (Leeanne Grosso) of Little Falls, and Brian Silbernick (Lisa DeClercq) of Becker; 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; sister, Elizabeth Rolfes of Melrose, and brother, Kenneth Silbernick (Joan) of Papillion, NE.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Joseph; one grandson; sisters and brothers, Pauline Silbernick, Ann Schiffler, Edwin Silbernick, Irene Gerads, Margaret Johnson, Bernadine Van Heel, and Jerome Silbernick.
Casket bearers will be Bernie Schad, Julius Korte, Ray Moshier, Al Gross, Doug Veeder and Jared DeJong. Cross bearer will be John-Michael Smith. Scripture bearer will be Lindsey Silbernick.
