Frances A. Moening, age 94 of Melrose died Monday, June 7, 2004 at the Melrose Area Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 10 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose with Rev. Vincent Lieser and Rev. Ken Thielman concelebrating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 8 to 10 a.m. on Thursday at Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose.
Frances Moening was born on February 12, 1910 in Melrose, Minnesota to Henry and Mary (Zitur) Althaus. She married Bernard "Ben" Moening on June 14, 1932 in Melrose. Frances was employed as a housekeeper at Pine Villa Care Center in Melrose for many years. She enjoyed cooking, baking, watching the Twins and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her bubbly personality will be missed by many. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose, Christian Mothers and St. Elizabeth's Society.
Survivors include her son, Jack Moening and his wife, Alice of Melrose; 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; and sister, Thresa Nathe of Melrose.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Mary Althaus; husband, Bernard "Ben" Moening on December 26, 1972; daughter, Karen Moening; son, Gene Moening; brother, Ray Althaus; and sister, Catherine Gieske.
Serving as casket bearers will be Melanie Moening, Rick Moening, Danny Moening, Randy Moening, Brian Moening and Lisa Wensmann. Cross bearer will be Amy Moening and scripture bearer will be Brett Moening.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
