Florence Sullivan

Florence A. Sullivan, age 87 of Sauk Centre, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 12, 2004. She is now in heaven, sipping on a fuzzy navel and dining on tropical chicken salad. After dinner she will be dancing the "Charleston". We all loved her and will miss her.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 19 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Rev. Todd Schneider will officiate with interment following in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 8 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers will be at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home in Sauk Centre.

Florence Sullivan was born on March 16, 1916 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Henry and Mable (Bloomquist) Frigaard. She married Edward Johnson on January 30, 1937 in Minneapolis and he later died. She was employed for many years as a transcriber at St. Barnabas and Swedish Hospitals, now Metropolitan Medical Center, and retired in 1975 after 25 years of service. On September 17, 1960 she married James Sullivan at Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. They resided in Richfield until 1977, when they moved to a home on Sauk Lake. In 1987 she moved to Sauk Centre and for the past few years she had resided at Pine Haven at Pine Villa Care Center in Melrose. She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church and Christian Mothers.

She is survived by one brother, Henry Frigard (Eileen) of Princeton; two children, Patricia Running of Vancouver, Washington and James "Crappie" Johnson (Darlene) of Sauk Centre; six grandchildren, Terri Georgen, Susan Brewin, Mark Running, Karen Smith (Troy), Michael Johnson and Annie Johnson; nine great grandchildren, Jeff Sherman (Stephanie), Cory Running (Kate), Brandon Running, Andrew Running, Dominic Running, Jason Smith, Allyson Smith, Allysa Johnson and Kailey Johnson; and two great-great grandchildren, Taya Sherman and Julian Running.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Sullivan on October 29, 1984; sister, Helen Menth and brothers, Irvin and Clayton Frigaard.

Serving as casket bearers will be Michael Johnson, Jeff Sherman, Cory, Brandon, Andrew and Dominic Running. Cross bearer will be Laura Polipnick and honorary bearers will be Ann Walz, Marion Conlin, Val Braun, and Alice Soennecker.

Memorials are preferred to the American Heart Association.
