Florence Fuerstenberg

Florence Fuerstenberg, age 96 of Sauk Centre, died Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at St. Michael's Nursing Home in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:45 a.m. Friday, June 4 at St. Michael's Nursing Home in Sauk Centre. Rev. Todd Schneider will officiate with interment following in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Melrose.

Visitation will be from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Friday at the nursing home.

Florence Fuerstenberg was born October 17, 1913 in Farming, Minnesota to Math and Margaret (Symanietz) Fuerstenberg. She enjoyed living on the family farm and learned to do her share of household chores with the rest of her siblings. From 1960 to 1985, Florence lived in various state and community residences. She then resided in foster homes in Lake Henry and Melrose before moving to Koelln Homes in Sauk Centre in 1993. Since July, 2002 she had been a resident of St. Michael's Nursing Home in Sauk Centre.Florence enjoyed going to work each day at the Day Training and Rehabilitation programs near where she lived. In Sauk Centre she was employed by WACOSA. She liked the opportunity to participate in activities with others in the community.

She is survived by nieces and nephews.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Viola Gruber; brothers, Ted, Harry, Ben, George, and Erwin Fuerstenberg.
