Florence A. "Flossie" Bruggeman, age 91 of Sauk Centre, passed away Friday, December 22, 2017 at the CentraCare Health Hospital in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 30 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Sudhansu Kumar, O.S.B. officiating. Interment will be at the parish cemetery in Sauk Centre.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church in Sauk Centre.
Florence Ann Jesperson was born January 20, 1926 in Plummer, Minnesota to William "Bill" and Annie (Omdahl) Jesperson. She graduated from Lincoln High School, Thief River Falls, Minnesota in 1944. Married in 1946 to Donovan "Don" Bruggeman at St. Kevins Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Don and Flossie lived in Mpls a few years before heading back to northern Minnesota where they farmed and had a dairy operation with their sons west of Thief River Falls. In 1972, they moved to Melrose and later to Little Birch Lake in the area. In 1997, they moved to Sauk Centre.
Flossie was a busy lady as a Tupperware consultant for many years. She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. In addition, she was actively involved in the VFW, Legion, and Eagles Auxiliaries and the Senior Center. She did a great deal of sewing and quilting and sewed many items over the years for the veterans. Flossie was known for her great cooking, especially fried chicken and caramel rolls. Flossie had a passion for all polka music and loved dancing. While living in Thief River Falls, she was an active adult leader in City View 4-H Club while supporting and encouraging all her children in their projects for the county and state fairs. She was very proud of all their accomplishments.
She is survived by her daughters, Susanne (Bob) Nelson of Moorhead and Roxanne (Rick) Elfering of Prior Lake; son, Kevin (Dianna) Bruggeman of St. Joseph; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Russell; and sister, LaVonne.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Don; son, Mark; daughter, Susan; her parents; three brothers; and two sisters.
Serving as casket bearers will be Darin Nelson, Ryan Nelson, Jason Bruggeman, and Mathew Elfering. Cross bearer will be Jeremy Elfering and scripture bearers will be Robin Fowler and Wendy Braid. Gift bearers will be Jody Bruggeman and Kimberly Savageau. Reader will be Lorrayne Traut. Eucharistic Minister will be Jackie Preusse.
