Evelyn Berens

Evelyn M. Berens, age 86, of Grey Eagle, died Sunday, November 27, 2010 at the Long Prairie Nursing Home in Long Prairie, Minnesota.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 1 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grey Eagle with Rev. Ron Dockendorf officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Grey Eagle.

Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church in Grey Eagle.

Evelyn Mary Peterson was born July 8, 1924 in Elmdale Township, Morrison County, Minnesota to Carl and Sara (McDermond) Peterson. She married Harold Gangl who died in 1970 and then married Lloyd Berens in 1978. Evelyn was a lifelong employee of the U.S. Postal Service in Grey Eagle as a Postmaster.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grey Eagle.

Survivors include her children, Judith Nolan, Ricky Gangl, Kathleen Taylor, and David Gangl; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and sister, Irene Kuehne.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her first husband, Harold Gangl; second husband, Lloyd Berens; an infant son; son, Bruce Gangl; daughter, Joan Nolan; brothers and sisters, Jeannette Peterson, Inez Waldvogel, Betty Sharp, and Alvin Peterson. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
