Eugene "Gene" Wolf, age 82, of West Union and formerly of Bloomington died peacefully Friday, September 7, 2018 at Galeon Community Memorial Home in Osakis, Minnesota with family at his side.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at St. Alexius Catholic Church with Father Jim Maderak and Father Andrew Marthaler concelebrating. Visitation will be held from 9 - 11 a.m. at the church prior to mass.
Eugene Henry Wolf was born March 1, 1936, the son of Lawrence and Helen (Faber) Wolf in Getty Township, near Padua, Minnesota. Gene attended school in Belgrade and graduated in 1954. In November 1955, Gene enlisted in the US Army and served his country throughout most of 1957. On June 22, 1963, Gene was united in marriage to Janet Mary Reining in St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church and made their home in Bloomington, Minnesota. Starting in the early 1960's, Gene worked as a mechanic on heavy construction equipment at Zeco Company where he continued his employment into the late 1970's. Then, he worked in the automotive industries until his retirement in 1999. For the last 17 years, Gene has resided at the farm place near West Union. He enjoyed playing cards, bowling, being a Boy Scout leader, spending time with family and friends, and loved to travel most of the United States with his wife, Jan.
Gene was a member of St. Alexius Catholic Church in West Union, a life member of the VFW and the American Legion Veterans. Gene also served as a volunteer for the Belgrade Military Honor Guard.
Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, James and JoAnne Wolf of Chanhassen, and Thomas and Tracie Wolf of New Prague; daughter-in-law, Debra Wolf of Dayton; grandchildren, Matthew (Michelle) Wolf, Michael Wolf, Jenna Wolf, and Jacob Wolf; great grandsons, John and Emmett Wolf; brother, Melvin (Judy) Wolf of St. Francis; sister-in-law, Janice Wolf of Apple Valley; other relatives and many friends.
Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Janet "Jan" in 2016; son, John Wolf in 2011; parents, Lawrence and Helen Wolf; and brother, Ronald Wolf.
