Eugene L. "Gene" Hansen, age 75 of Sauk Centre, died Friday, August 31, 2012 at the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria, Minnesota.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 6 at Zion Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Marty Porter officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre and at the church one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
Eugene Leo Hansen was born June 30, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois to Earnest and Mathilda (Follmar) Hansen. After graduating from high school Gene enlisted in the United States Army. Following his service Gene worked for Ford for a few years and then went on to work for Amoco for over 30 years. On September 14, 1991 he married Kristine Karkhoff Hinnenkamp at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Osakis. Gene enjoyed fishing, shooting guns, hunting prairie dogs, reading, and working on the computer.Gene was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where he was very active and served as a church elder.
Survivors include his wife, Kristine Hansen of Sauk Centre; step-daughters, Lori Hinnenkamp of Alexandria, Amy (Gene) Woida of Sauk Centre, and Staci (fiancé, Brian Loxtercamp) Theisen of St. Joseph; step-grandchildren, Quinton Smith, Roshonna Smith, Dale Forrest Jr., and Matthew Schmid; step-great-grandchildren, Dominic Smith and Zander Forrest; and brothers, Raymond (Pat) Hansen of Tennessee and Gerald (Patricia) Hansen of California.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Earnest; and sister-in-law, Nancy Hansen.
