Eugene "Gene" Harmeling

Eugene H. “Gene” Harmeling, age 85, sadly passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at his home with family in Sun City, Arizona.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 11 at Saint Paul’s Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Mark Botzet officiating. Inurnment will be at Calvary Lutheran Cemetery in Little Sauk following the lunch.  Military honors will be by the American Legion Post 417 of Little Sauk.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Gene was born on January 14, 1938 to Alois and Anna Harmeling on a farm in Ward Springs, Minnesota. He was the last living sibling of a family of eight children. Gene and his wife, Harriet, of 61 years, raised two boys Tom and Keith. They have four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. 

Gene served in the United States Marine Corps for four years. He worked as a Utilities Construction Supervisor most of his career. 

He loved hunting, fishing, family, friends, God and country. Gene and Harriet loved to travel and retired to Sun City, Arizona.
