Eugene F. "Gene" Bueckers, age 63 of St. Rosa, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, March 18, 2010 at his home St. Rosa, Minnesota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 22 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in St. Rosa with Rev. Art Hoppe officiating and Rev. Julius Boeckermann, O.S.B. concelebrating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Military honors provided by the Melrose Veterans Honor Guard and the Sauk Centre United Veterans Honor Guard.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 8 to 10 a.m. Monday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Parish prayers will be at 6 p.m. followed by the Knights of Columbus, St. Rosa Lions, Melrose Veterans Honor Guard, and Sauk Centre United Veterans Honor Guard at 7 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
Eugene Fred Bueckers was born November 8, 1946 in St. Rosa to Clem and Loretta (Rakotz) Bueckers. He attended Melrose High School and joined the US Air Force serving five years. On September 13, 1969 he was united in marriage to Donna Mae Finken at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in St. Rosa. Gene owned and operated Bueckers City Sanitation Service since 1976. He loved working, taking his grandchildren fishing on the pontoon, going to auctions, and collecting antiques. Gene was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in St. Rosa, Schanhaar-Otte VFW Post 7050, American Legion Post 67, St. Rosa Lions Club, and the Knights of Columbus, Council #1633.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Bueckers of St. Rosa; four daughters, Melissa Ann Bueckers of St. Rosa, Pamela Ann (Dan) Nissen of Lake Lillian, Barbara Ann (Joe) Hoppe of Sauk Centre, and Carrie Ann (Dustin) Wiechmann of Grey Eagle; six granddaughters; brothers and sisters, Ervin (Bertha) Bueckers of Melrose, Lorene (Aloys) Feldewerd of New Munich, Dorene (Ervin) Feldewerd of Meire Grove, Sylvester Bueckers of St. Joseph, Alvin (Sally) Bueckers of Albany, Ronnie (Sheila) Bueckers of Altus, Oklahoma, Tony (JoAnn) Bueckers of Bruceville, Texas, Clem, Jr. (Sandy) Bueckers of Melrose, Charla Bueckers of Melrose, and Daniel (Gerri) Bueckers of Melrose.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Clem and Loretta Bueckers; and brothers, Tommy Bueckers and David Bueckers.
Serving as casket bearers will be Leon Feldewerd, Kevin Feldewerd, Troy Finken, Joe Finken, Bob Bueckers, and Marlo Macik. Cross bearer will be Michelle Novotny and scripture bearer will be Karen Gruber.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation Association. Gene's granddaughter has been diagnosed with colitis.
