Eugene W. Anderson, age 90 of Sauk Centre, died Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at the Belgrade Nursing Home in Belgrade, Minnesota.
Private inurnment will be at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Eugene Wilmert Anderson was born February 17, 1924 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Edwin and Tricora (Swanson) Anderson. He was the younger of two boys. He graduated from North High School in 1942 and worked at FMC in Minneapolis for about a year. Then he joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1944, served in the south Pacific and Japan during World War II, and was discharged in 1946. Following his military service, he worked at Federal Cartridge for four years as a stock clerk and then was a truck driver for Goodin Company for 28 years.
He met Juneadel "June" Koeneke when she and five other girls were renting an apartment from his parents. They were married on May 29, 1948 and had two daughters, Vonda and Cheryl. Eugene and June moved to Sauk Centre after they retired in 1986 and they enjoyed life in the small city by big Sauk Lake. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre.
Survivors include two daughters, Vonda (Keith) Pryor of Sauk Centre and Cheryl White of Prescott, Wisconsin; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Eugene was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, June Anderson on January 17, 2014; his parents; brother, Wilbert Anderson; and son-in-law, Noel Havens White.
