Esther Nordman

Esther M. Nordman, age 93 of Melrose died Thursday, December 16, 2004 at Melrose Area Hospital.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday, December 20 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose with Rev. Vincent Lieser officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 8 to 11 a.m. Monday at Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Christian Mothers, St. Elizabeth's Society, and Schanhaar-Otte VFW Post 7050 Auxiliary will pray at 6 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 7 p.m.

Esther Nordman was born August 28, 1911 in St. Martin, Minnesota to John and Margaret (Kuefler) Miller. She was united in marriage to John J. Nordman on October 13, 1930 in St. Martin. The couple lived in Melrose. Esther enjoyed playing cards, sewing quilts, and visiting with family and friends. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose, Christian Mothers, Saint Elizabeth's Society and Schanhaar-Otte VFW Post 7050 Auxiliary.

Survivors include her children, Arnold Nordman and his wife, Janet of Cottage Grove, David Nordman and his wife, Pat of Silverdale, Washington, Rosemary Qualley and her husband, Tom of Coconut Creek, Florida, Alan Nordman and his wife, Judy of Cottage Grove, and Thomas Nordman and his wife, Jeanne of West St. Paul; 21 grandchildren and 45 great grandchildren.

Esther was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Nordman on May 14, 1966; daughter, Ronelda Wessel; son, James Nordman; brother and sisters, Bertha Roehrl, Leonard Miller, Martha Barthel, Marcella Weidner, Francis Weymann, and Sister Erna.

Serving as casket bearers will be Esther's grandsons. Serving as cross bearer will be Alan C. Nordman and scripture bearer will be Heidi Hoffmann. Honorary bearers will be Christian Mothers, Saint Elizabeth's Society and Schanhaar-Otte VFW Post 7050 Auxiliary.
