Elverna C. Lamb, age 90 of Alexandria, formerly of Sauk Centre, died Monday, July 7, 2008 at the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria, Minnesota.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2008 at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre with Pastor James Resa officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Elverna Clara Lent was born on May 3, 1918 near Ponsford, Minnesota to Ralph and Ella (Judas) Lent. She lived there with her family until she was a young teen and the family moved to the Sauk Centre area. She was educated in rural schools. On October 23, 1945 she married Winfield J. Lamb in Brooten, Minnesota. They lived, farmed and raised their family near Sauk Centre. Winfield died in 1990 and she continued living on the farm until 2001 when she moved to Nelson Gables in Alexandria.She worked as an aide at the Sarepta Home for many years and later at St. Michael's Nursing Home. She was an avid gardener, quilter and continued doing a variety of handiwork projects until her death.As a young girl she committed her life to Christ and was a member of the Assemblies of God church where she taught Sunday School for many years.
She is survived by her children, Orville (Virginia) of Alexandria, Roger (Pam) of Stillwater and Jane (Gary) Pettit of Rockford, Illinois; grandchildren, Tim (Amy) Lamb of Farwell, Jim (Jennifer) Lamb of Alexandria, Jason (Christina) Lamb of Alexandria, Nathan (Paula) Lamb of Zumbrota, Nicole (fiancé Joe Bosch) Lamb of Fargo, North Dakota, Jacob Pettit of Rockford, Illinois and Ginger Pettit of Las Vegas, Nevada; great-grandchildren, Zachery, Jackie, Jordyn, Spencer, Makenna, Larissa and Justin Lamb; sister, Arlys Ohman; brothers, Charles, Donald and Lloyd Lent; sister-in-law, Grace Lamb; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Winfield on June 3, 1990; parents; brothers, Arnold, Noble, Orville, Ervin and Robert Lent; sister Ardella Stephens.
Serving as casket bearers will be her grandchildren.
