Elva Eloise Norton was born December 17, 1919 in Sherman Township of Story County, Iowa, to Floyd and Martha (Gogerty) Norton. Elva graduated from Sauk Centre High School. After graduation, she received her teaching certificate and began her life-long career of teaching. She briefly taught country school and taught in a few various schools before settling in Hutchinson, Minnesota where she was a first grade teacher until her retirement in 1985. She loved to teach first grade because her mission was to teach little boys how to read and give them a good start in education. Elva also received her Master's Degree from Denver University and a three year Biblical Ministry degree from North Central Bible School.
Upon her retirement, she moved to Cold Spring, Minnesota where she enjoyed one of her most favorite hobbies - fishing. Elva never missed an opening fishing season on her favorite lake. Elva also enjoyed worldwide travel as well as many trips in the United States including Alaska and Hawaii. Part of her retirement was spent in Bibleville, Texas, where she worked in the library organizing Vacation Bible School kits for missionary teams to take to Mexico, organizing a schedule for volunteer bell ringers for the Salvation Army, and singing in the community choir. She enjoyed planning family reunions with her siblings and spending time with her nieces and nephews. Elva loved to be around people which gave her an opportunity to share the most important aspect of her life - her faith in her Lord Jesus Christ. Her plans were always made with the condition of "Lord willing, we will."
Elva will be missed by her surviving sister, Dolores Warga, of Holdingford and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Marion, Dale, Ervin, Donald and Kenneth; and sisters, Agnes and Eleanor.
Serving as casket bearers will be Ed Isakson, Phillip Konsor, Stephen Konsor, Sr., Bill Norton, Dave Anderson, and Ken Toenies. Musician will be Suzanne Isakson.
