Elsie Hellermann, age 93, of Melrose, died Friday, June 17, 2011 at the Pine Villa Care Center in Melrose, Minnesota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 21 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose with Rev. Ken Thielman officiating and Rev. Art Hoppe concelebrating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Sts. Bernard & Elizabeth Council and the Christian Mothers will pray at 6 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 7:30 p.m. Monday evening.
Elsie Hellermann was born September 18, 1917 in Melrose Township, Stearns County to Henry and Agnes (Pohlmann) Hinnenkamp. On May 11, 1938 she married Herman Hellermann in Melrose. Elsie was a homemaker all her life. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, canning, quilting, baking, cooking, and making braided rugs.
Elsie was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose, Christian Mothers, St. Elizabeth's Society, Melrose Hospital Auxiliary, Melrose Historical Society, and was secretary and treasurer of St. Mary's School Endowment Fund.
Survivors include her children, Florence (Victor) Middendorf of St. Rosa, Inez Ruegemer of Park Rapids, Janet (Aloys) Fuechtmann of New Munich, Mike (Jean) Hellermann of Melrose, Rose Ann (Ralph) Inderrieden of Melrose, Mark (Diane) Hellermann of Melrose, Maggie (John) Kraker of Alexandria, and JoAnn (Gerald) Boeckermann of St. Rosa; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Marie Primus of Melrose; and sisters-in-law, Agnes Hinnenkamp of Melrose, Frieda Hollermann of Albany, Julia Hollermann of Long Prairie, and Hilda Theiler of Melrose.
Elsie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herman on February 2, 1997; grandson, Robert Hellermann; brothers, Leo, Boniface, and Norbert Hinnenkamp; and sister, Loretta Mehr.
Serving as casket bearers will be Tom Fuechtmann, Jim Hellermann, Ron Hellermann, Andy Hellermann, Matt Hellermann, Dave Boeckermann, Mike Boeckermann, and Travis Kraker. Cross bearer will be Vern Middendorf and scripture bearer will be Nancy Duevel. Gift bearers will be Becky Kraker and Jan Hiltner. Reader will be Steve Fuechtmann and Vern Middendorf will read the petitions. Eulogy will be read by Amy Schaefer. Honorary bearers will be Clarence & Mary Ann Wenker, Elmer & Annie Hellermann, Kitty Mueller, Betty Lou Dickinson, Dorine Terres, Shirley Fuchs, Antonia Gomez, Colette Von Wahlde, Clarey & Lucille Raeker, and Jim & Ruth Ann Gieske.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Mary's School Endowment Fund.
