Elnora Sell

Elnora M. Sell, age 95 of Brainerd, formerly of Sauk Centre, passed away peacefully with family at her bedside on Sunday, August 18, 2019 at her home in Brainerd, Minnesota.

A Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, August 24 at Zion Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Marty Porter officiating. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Sauk Centre.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Elnora Marion Sell, daughter of Henry and Helena (Griesert) Meier, was born December 28, 1923 in Ionia, Iowa.  She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg, Iowa. On July 28, 1943 she was united in marriage to Lloyd Sell at Zion Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre, Minnesota and raised four children.  She was a hard worker who worked various jobs; her favorite being a dispatcher for the Sauk Centre Police Department.  She later volunteered at Meals on Wheels.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Brainerd and a former member of Zion Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre, and the VFW Auxiliary Post 2747 in McGregor.  Elnora was affectionately known by many names including, Tootie, Nora and most commonly, Toots, and most recently as Granny.

Survivors include her children, Larry (Susan) Sell of Mahtowa, Sharon Young of McGregor, and Debra (Chuck) Albrecht of Merrifield; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and nine nieces and nephews.

Elnora was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Sell on December 14, 1976; parents; son, Dale Sell; son-in-law, Alvin Young; brothers, Arnold, Clarence (Lorraine), and Ervin (Daisy) Meier; sisters, Verla Meier and Leola (Arnie) Milbrandt; nephews, Randy Milbrandt and Gerald Meier; and niece, Darlene Meier Folk.

Serving as casket bearers will be David Sell, Steven Young, Jeffrey Sell, Stacie (Sell) Ilgen, Katie (Sell) Blue, Nancy (Young) Vanselow, Taralynn (Sell) Belden, Adam Albrecht, and Leah (Albrecht) McGee.  Honorary casket bearers will be Ken Meier, Alfred Meier, Rodney Meier, Linda (Meier) Desrosiers, LaVerne Milbrandt, Carol (Milbrandt) Ameling, Gary Meier, Jeff Meier, and Kathy (Meier) Salaymeh.

Elnora’s family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Essentia Health, Good Samaritan Hospice for their brief but wonderful care, and Elnora’s special care giver, Kris. Your compassionate care was truly appreciated. Words cannot express what you did for our mother.
