Elmeda C. Essler, age 96 of Sauk Centre, died on Friday, July 2, 2004 at St. Michael's Nursing Home in Sauk Centre.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 6 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Rev. James Statz will officiate with interment following in Calvary Cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church in Sauk Centre.
Elmeda Essler was born on January 28, 1908 in Long Prairie, Minnesota to Theodore and Ida (Languish) Hansmann. On September 6, 1927 she married John J. Essler at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. The couple farmed near Sauk Centre and Padua before moving to Sauk Centre in 1937. They resided in St. Cloud from 1957 until 1964 when then returned to Sauk Centre. For the past several years she had resided at St. Michael's Nursing Home in Sauk Centre. She was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church and Christian Mothers and had served for many years as a foster grandparent at Holy Family School.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth (Emily) Essler of Osakis and Robert (Gloria) Essler of Sauk Centre; eight grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Essler on March 10, 1990; daughter, Gloria Essler Vogel; brothers and sisters, Herbert, Ervin and Harvey Hansmann, Vera Schmidt and Evelyn \Sally\" Becker Murphy.
Serving as casket bearers will be grandsons.
