Elma Grussing

Elma "Emme"Grussing, 70, of Sauk Centre died Saturday, March 22, 2003 at St. Michael's Hospital in Sauk Centre.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2003 at Zion Lutheran Church, Sauk Centre with Rev. R.E. Bloemker officiating. Burial will follow in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Leven Township, Pope County, Minnesota.

Friends may call Tuesday from 3:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre and Wednesday at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. Sauk Centre Seniors will pray at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Elma Grussing was born on May 20, 1912 in Martin County, Minnesota to Herman and Bertha (Simon) Rosenberg. She married Henry H. Grussing on February 19, 1936 at Welcome, Minnesota. They farmed near Dunnell and then in Westport. Henry died in 1972 and Elma moved to Sauk Centre in 1975. Elma was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, Rebecca's Circle and the Sauk Centre Seniors. She loved flowers and enjoyed playing cards, reading and crossword puzzles.

Survivors include her children, Mary Jenson (Art) of Green Valley, AZ, Don Grussing (Anita), Diane Engebretson (Robert), Bette Grussing, Herman Grussing (Nancy) all of Minneapolis; sisters and brother, Hulda Ask of Sherburn, MN, Roy Rosenberg (Neva) and Esther Craig of Welcome, MN; 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry Grussing in October of 1972, brothers, Frank, Dewey and Alwin Rosenberg; and one great-grandchild.

Casket bearers will be Greg Jensen, Guy Grussing, Rod Engebretson, David Jensen, Jay Jensen, Troy Engebretson, Sandy Hamilton, Jill Gilbertson and Lori Mathsen.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Zion Lutheran Church of Sauk Centre and the Sauk Centre Senior Center.
