Ella M. Erickson, age 86 of Burtrum, died of terminal lung cancer on Friday, April 23, 2004 at Mother of Mercy Nursing Home in Albany, Minnesota.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 26 at 1 p.m. at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Grey Eagle. Rev. Rodger Schmidt will officiate with interment following in Moses Dane Cemetery near Burtrum.

Friends may call at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Grey Eagle on Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. and on Monday from 12 noon to 1 p.m.

Ella Margaret Erickson was born on January 2, 1918 in Burnhamville Township, Todd County, Minnesota, near Burtrum, to the late Martin and Annie (Hanson) Engh. She went to 1st and 2nd grade at what is now the Hub Supper Club, and then went to the Burtrum School through the 8th grade. On January 30, 1934 she was united in marriage to Alvin Oscar Erickson in Long Prairie, Minnesota and the couple lived most of their married life at their home in Burtrum. They were married for 62 years. They had one precious son, Harvey Richard Erickson, who passed away on February 26, 1986, at the age of 51, from a heart attack.

Ella is survived by one granddaughter, Sharon Marie Erickson of Burtrum; a younger sister, Mabel Waldvogel of Nashwauk; and several others whom she loved as her own.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin "Alvie" on January 11, 1997; son, Harvey; infant brother, Alvin Engh; older sister, Hannah Sharp and younger sister, Alice Miller.

Serving as casket bearers will be Bob Johannes, Sharon Erickson, Dennis Harmon, Rachel Determan, Jamie Bartz and Bart Gibson. Honorary bearers will be Larry Smith, Bonnie Lombardy, Jim and Jerry Waldvogel and all who loved her.
