Ella Engle

Ella B. Engle, age 91 of Sauk Centre, died peacefully Thursday, August 23, 2007 at St. Michael's Nursing Home in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 27 at Zion Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre. Rev. Marty Porter will officiate with inurnment following in Greenwood Cemetery.

Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service.

Ella Engle was born July 24, 1916 in Little Sauk Township, Todd County, Minnesota to Frank and Josephine (Dwelle) Kircher. On June 20, 1937 she married LeRoy T. Engle at Calvary Lutheran Church in Little Sauk, Minnesota. The couple farmed west of Sauk Centre until they retired in 1972 and then moved to Sauk Centre. She worked for her sisters at the Lakeview Children's Home and the Pettit Children's Home with developmentally disabled children. She was also a teacher at the Developmental Activity Center (DAC).Ella was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid. She loved to cook and garden and enjoyed playing cards.

Survivors include four children, Richard (Coralie) Engle of Little Falls, Gary (Patricia) Engle of Madison Lake, Cheri (Ray) Salzer of Albany, and Patricia (Marc) Parker of Sauk Centre; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Lena Polipnick of St. Cloud.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, LeRoy Engle on March 1, 1994; brothers, Milton, Ray, Harvey, and Gordon Kircher; sisters, Grace Pettit, Stella Sumwalt, and Ruth Hendrickson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Zion Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre.
