[b]Elizabeth A. "Betty" Wiener, age 73 of Elrosa, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, October 6, 2006 at the St. Cloud Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 9 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Elrosa. Rev. Jeff Ethen will officiate with inurnment following in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre from 4 to 9 p.m. on Sunday and at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Elrosa from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday. Christian Mothers and Saint James Society of Catholic Aid Association will pray at 7 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 8:30 p.m. Sunday evening.

Elizabeth Wiener was born on October 10, 1932 in West Union, Minnesota to Edwin A. and Johanna (Bussman) Von Wahlde. Betty attended country school in the Sauk Centre area. She worked as a candlelight egg inspector and at the Melrose Hospital. On October 22, 1960 she married Gerald J. Wiener at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. The couple farmed near Elrosa until retiring in 1993 when they moved to town. Betty then worked part-time at Harry's Pizza. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Elrosa, Christian Mothers, Saint James Society of Catholic Aid Association, and the Senior Citizens.

Survivors include her husband, Gerald "Jerry" Wiener of Elrosa; children, LeRoy Wiener of Elrosa, Wayne Wiener and his wife, Mary of Sunburg, Luann Kalthoff and her husband, David of Spring Hill, Chad Wiener and his wife, Cheryl of Elrosa, and Julie Pientka and her husband, Chris of New London; 12 grandchildren; and brothers, Richard Von Wahlde and his wife, Alma of Sauk Centre, Edward Von Wahlde of West Union, Elmer Von Wahlde and his wife, Shirley of Sauk Centre, and Raymond Von Wahlde and his wife, Rita of Sauk Centre.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents.[/b]
