Elizabeth "Betty" Redlin Thorson, age 88 of Sauk Centre, died Monday, May 29, 2006 at St. Benedict's Health Center in Dickinson, North Dakota.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 1 at First Lutheran Church. Rev. Kevin Born will officiate with interment following in Greenwood Cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church in Sauk Centre.
Betty Thorson was born May 24, 1918 in Crosby, North Dakota to Otto Carl and E. Sylvina (Dains) Redlin. She attended the University of Minnesota and received a bachelor of science degree in Home Economics in 1945. On December 27, 1949 she married Harry V. Thorson at Highland Park Presbyterian Church in Minneapolis. She had resided in Sauk Centre most of her life, where she was a home economics teacher at both Sauk Centre Junior and Senior High Schools. She had resided in Dickinson, North Dakota for the past two years.She was a very active member of First Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years and was also a member of Naomi Circle. She was also a member of Gradatim Club, which she had served as Sixth District President and member of the Homemakers Club.Betty loved making crafts with Alyce Hintzen, quilting at the church and she especially loved being a grandma.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan Utech (Stephen) of Esko and Naomi Thorson (Keith Fernsler) of Dickinson, North Dakota; three grandchildren, Sarah Utech, Adam Thorson-Fernsler and Kelsey Utech; brother, Paul Redlin of Crosby, North Dakota; three nieces and three nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harry Thorson on April 23, 2000; sisters, Lucille Thatcher, Phyllis Todd and Geraldine Olson.
Serving as casket bearers will be Adam Thorson-Fernsler, Sarah and Kelsey Utech, Gene and Dirk Olson, Carlton Wrolson and John Dosdall.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the University of Minnesota.
