Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 26 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose with Rev. Vince Lieser and Rev. Ken Thielman concelebrating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. The Christian Mothers, Sts. Bernard & Elizabeth Council and Schanhaar-Otte VFW Auxiliary will pray at 6 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening.
Betty Pohlmann was born February 5, 1926 in Melrose, Minnesota to Herman and Rosa (Steinemann) Hellermann. On August 29, 1944 she married Jerome Pohlmann at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Melrose. She lived in Melrose most of her life. Betty was employed at a grocery store in Melrose as a clerk for 25 years. She was also a waitress at Fanum's Cafe. She loved gardening, fishing, playing cards and playing Scrabble/Upwords with her sister, Hilda. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose, Christian Mothers, Sts. Bernard & Elizabeth Council, Senior Citizens, Melrose Area Hospital Auxiliary and a life member of Schanhaar-Otte VFW Post 7050 Auxiliary.
Survivors include her children, Harold Pohlmann of Minneapolis, Ralph Pohlmann of Grandbury, TX, and Doris (Mike) Helms of Williams, AZ; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and one step great-grandson; sisters, Freida Hollermann of Albany, Julia Hollermann of Long Prairie and Hildagard Theiler of Albany.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerome Pohlmann on January 19, 1997; son, Daniel Pohlmann, brother, Herman Hellermann.
Serving as casket bearers will be Roger Theiler, Mark Hellermann, Mike Hellermann, Gerald Koopmeiners, Joel Ebnet, Allen Werke, Fritz Hellermann and Jim Maus. Cross bearer will be Maggie Kraker and scripture bearer will be Linda Werke. Gift bearers will be Ralph and Rose Ann Inderrieden. Lector will be Jean Hellermann. Honorary bearers will be the Christian Mothers and Sts. Bernard & Elizabeth Council.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the St. Mary's School Endowment Fund in Melrose, MN.
