Eleanor Meyer, age 106 of Melrose died on Tuesday, December 30, 2003 at the Pine Villa Care Center in Melrose, Minnesota. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, January 3, 2004 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose with Rev. Vincent Lieser officiating and Rev. Ken Thielman concelebrating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Parish prayers will be 8 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.

Eleanor Meyer (Uhlenkott) was born on December 21, 1897 in Freeport, Minnesota to George and Mary (Metzger) Uhlenkott. She was united in marriage to John Meyer on July 12, 1921 in Freeport, Minnesota. Eleanor is a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose, Christian Mothers, Catholic Order of Foresters and a past member of the American Legion Post 101 Auxiliary and the Melrose Study Club. Eleanor enjoyed crocheting and teaching others to crochet.

Survivors include her children, Mary Hoffman of Annapolis, Maryland; Donald (Gerry) Meyer of Melrose; William (Callista) Meyer of Melrose; John(Jo Ann) Meyer of Sauk Centre; Janet (Thomas) Smith of Falls Church, Virginia; Elizabeth Ann Meyer of Bethesda, Maryland; Mark (Barbara) Meyer of Melrose; James (Karen) Meyer of Chanhassen; 30 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Meyer on January 22, 1992; brothers and sisters, Herman Uhlenkott; Simon Uhlenkott; William Uhlenkott; Beatta Degnan; Barbara Stommes; Mamie Bauer; Anna Harren; Rose Stuntebeck and Minnie Mahoney; one great-grandson, Dominic Meyer.

Casket bearers will be Jay, Steven, John and Chris Meyer, Tom Smith, Karl and Eric Hoffman and David Feitl. Carrie Meyer will serve as cross bearer and the scripture bearer will be Anne Feitl.
