Eleanor A. Messer, age 82 of New Munich, died Monday, October 31, 2005 at the Melrose Area Hospital in Melrose, Minnesota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 3 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Rev. Todd Schneider and Rev. Andrew Marthaler will officiate with interment following in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 8 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers will be at 5:15 p.m. followed by St. Paul's Christian Mothers and Catholic Aid at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Eleanor Messer was born on April 13, 1923 in West Union, Minnesota to Andrew and Helen (Fink) Radermacher. On June 26, 1945 she married Alex Messer at St. Alexius Catholic Church in West Union. They farmed west of Sauk Centre until they retired and moved to Melrose in 1990. Since 2002, she had resided at Das Goldene Wohnheim in New Munich. Eleanor was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose, St. Paul's Catholic Aid and Christian Mothers.
Survivors include two sons, Gary (Patty) Messer and Ken Messer, all of Sauk Centre; son-in-law, Joe Oevermann of Melrose; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister and brother, Helen (Vernon "Bud") Marthaler of Sauk Centre and Andrew Radermacher of Alexandria.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alex Messer on November 14, 1995; daughter, Kathy Oevermann on May 7, 2003; sister, Dorothy Radermacher; and an infant sister.
Serving as casket bearers will be Nathan, Colin and Diana Messer, Mike Oevermann, Kayla and Joe Dickhoff. Cross bearer will be Nicole Messer and Maria Oevermann.
