Elde L. "Winkie" Brown, age 70, of Grey Eagle, died after a long courageous battle with lung disease on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at the Pine Villa Care Center in Melrose, Minnesota.
Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 14 in the community room at the Village View Apartments in Grey Eagle with Rev. Ken Thielman officiating.
Friends may call from 10 to11 a.m. Wednesday at the Village View Apartments in Grey Eagle.
Elde Lee Brown was born January 29, 1941 in Onamia, Minnesota to LaVern and Ruth (Anderson) Brown. He was raised by his mother, Ruth and his step-father, Robert King. He lived in St. Paul where he raised four boys and worked commercial roofing and truck driving. Elde then moved to St. Cloud and worked at the VA Medical Center before moving to Melrose in 2000. It was in Melrose that he met the love of his life, Mary Ann Molitor. Elde worked at Pine Haven in Melrose and had a real gift with interacting with the patients. The couple lived at Village View Apartments in Grey Eagle for the past three years.
Elde enjoyed visiting with family and friends, golfing, snowmobiling, fishing, and watching sports, especially, the MN Twins and the Vikings.
Survivors include his significant other, Mary Ann Molitor of Grey Eagle; children, Robert (Susan) Brown of Albertville, Bruce (Jennifer) Brown of Burnsville, Todd Brown of Inver Grove Heights, and Dean (Bonnie) Brown of Little Falls; 13 grandchildren; brother and sisters, Jack Hoheisel of St. Cloud, Judy (Dave) Schoumaker of Ham Lake, Robyn (Arnie) Johnson of St. Cloud, and Resa (David) Hopkins of St. Cloud.
Elde was preceded in death by his parents, LaVern Brown and Ruth King; step-father, Robert King; and sister, Roxann King.
