Effie Forrest

Effie C. Forrest, age 90 of Sauk Centre, died peacefully Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at CentraCare Health Nursing Home in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 1st at First United Church of Christ in Sauk Centre with Pastor Chad Schwanke presiding. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00p.m. Monday at Patton-Schad Funeral Home and 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at First United Church of Christ in Sauk Centre.

Effie Clara Penn was born December 9, 1924 in Clara City, Minnesota, the daughter of John and Josephine (Hubel) Penn. On November 2, 1942, she was united in marriage to Julian T. Forrest in Morris, Minnesota. The couple lived in Sauk Centre and raised their family of six children. Effie worked as a caregiver at Sarepta Nursing Home. Effie enjoyed caring for special needs people and worked Pettit Children's Home and Koeln Homes. She also had a 30 year career serving as an Avon Sales Representative. During her stay at the nursing home, Effie quilted weekly with her great granddaughter, Sara and other family members-sometimes including five generations. Effie was a member of First United Church of Christ in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.

Survivors include her children, Robert (Diane) Forrest of Zim, Judith (Victor) Zellgert of Little Falls, John (Dotty Rae) Forrest of Cass Lake, Kathryn Forrest of Oregon, and Tamara (Paul) Neubauer of Plymouth; 20 grandchildren; 48 great grandchildren; and 13 great great grandchildren.

Effie was preceded in death by husband, Julian on November 24, 1992; son, Ronald in 2000; great grandson, Dominic Kraker in 2001; her parents; and her siblings.

Casket bearers will be Jake Warolin, Casey Warolin, Robert Forrest, Jr., Thomas Forrest, Justus Kraker, Gaige Kraker, and James Zellgert. Special music at the service was provided by Michael Zellgert, violinist.
