Edwin H. Wander, age 85 of Elrosa died Thursday, January 20, 2005 at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 24 at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Elrosa with Rev. Jeff Ethan officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday and from 8 to 10 a.m. Monday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Parish prayers will be at 4:30 p.m. Sunday evening.

Edwin Wander was born in Spring Hill, Minnesota to Michael and Theresa (Athmann) Wander. He was united in marriage to Lorraine Deters on October 3, 1949 at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Elrosa. The couple farmed in the Spring Hill and Elrosa area for 30 years. Edwin worked as a mechanic, carpenter, dairyman and custodian. He enjoyed music, dancing, mowing lawn, playing cards and his harmonica and teasing his grandchildren. He was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Elrosa and the St. Michael's Men's Society in Spring Hill.

Survivors include his wife, Lorraine Wander of Elrosa; children, Bonnie (Wander) Schroer of Eau Claire and James John Wander and his wife, Barb of Minnetonka; grandchildren, Christopher, Bridget, Matthew, Gretchen, Kristin and Zachary; sisters and brother, Eleanor Winter and her husband, Ernest of St. Cloud, Lorraine Schwieters of New Munich, Monica Barten of Spring Hill, Al Wander and his wife, Jeanette of Elrosa and Anna Mae Lensing of Greenwald.

Edwin was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Theresa Wander; brothers, Alfred, Christ and Ray Wander.

Serving as casket bearers will be Don Wander, John Wander, Fred Barten, Chuck Schwieters, Joe Deters and Jamie Deters. Serving as cross bearer will be Zachary Schroer and scripture bearer will be Christopher Schroer. Honorary bearers will be men of Elrosa.
