Edwin J. Bueckers, age 80, of Freeport died peacefully Thursday at his home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport with Rev. Roger Klassen, OSB officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport. Parish prayers will be at 8 p.m. followed by St. Joseph's Society at 8:30 p.m. Monday at the church in Freeport.
Edwin J. Bueckers was born on December 5, 1924 in Freeport to Bernard and Bernadine (Boeckermann) Bueckers. He married Bertilla M. "Tillie" Roehrl on Sept. 6, 1948 at Melrose, Minnesota. Edwin attended Sacred Heart School in Freeport as a child and he was a life long resident of Freeport. Edwin was employed by St. Cloud Poultry and Egg and Armour Foods from 1961 to 1983. Edwin also worked for Ackie's Bar, Charlie's Café and the Freeport State Bank from 1983 to 1998.He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport and St. Joseph's Society. Edwin enjoyed working on his lawn and flowers. He liked to listen to sports on the radio or watch them on T.V. Edwin played cards and spent time at the lake cabin where he enjoyed fishing for the last few years of his life.
Survivors include his wife, Bertilla "Tillie" Bueckers of Freeport; children, Arthur Bueckers (Susan) of Cold Spring, Sandra Ritter (Allen) of Alliance, NE, Paul Bueckers (Sandra) of Champlin, Glen Bueckers (Jeannette) of Burtrum, Daniel Bueckers (Marilyn) of Freeport, Dale Bueckers (Janet) of St. Cloud, Patrick Bueckers (Melodie) of Melrose, Laura Hannah (Rob) of St. Augusta, Doris Ottersbach (Michael) of Lusk, WY, Neil Bueckers (Sandy) of Sauk Rapids; sisters, Rose Wensman of Belgrade and Magdalena Garding of St. Martin; 24 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and four step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters and brothers, Katherine Toenies, Theresa Frie, Joseph Bueckers, Agnes Eickhoff, and Herman Bueckers; and one granddaughter, Paula Trautmann.
Casket bearers will be William, Michael, Dustin, and Nicholas Bueckers, Jason Ritter, Nathan Steinemann, Jeremy Steinemann and Chad Trautmann. Cross bearer will be Matthew Bueckers. Scripture bearer will be Kira Fowler. Honorary bearers will be St. Joseph's Society and Shawn and Becky Ritter, Brandon, Brittany, Tyler, Ryan and Jacklin Bueckers and Keely Ottersbach.
Memorials are preferred.
