Edward B. "Ed" Mueller, age 90 of Melrose, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Friday, June 15, 2018 at the CentraCare Health Hospital in Melrose, Minnesota.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 23, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Meire Grove with Rev. Gabriel Walz officiating and Rev. Marvin Enneking concelebrating. Interment will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery in Melrose.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Catholic United Financial will pray at 5 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 7 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
Edward Bernard Mueller was born June 4, 1928 in Melrose Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Henry and Anna (Kettler) Mueller. On September 9, 1953 he married Katherine Oevermann at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Melrose. Ed completed schooling through ninth grade and started farming with his father on the family farm. He and Kitty farmed on the same farm until 1993, when their son, Jamie, took over the farm. Ed and Kitty then moved into the town of Melrose.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose, Catholic United Financial, and served on the board for St. Mary's School and the Credit Union. Ed has been the Fire Warden for Melrose Township and on the board for many years. He enjoyed bowling, watching the Minnesota Twins and St. Louis Cardinals baseball teams, and playing cards. Ed loved spending time with his family, especially with his wife of 64 years and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his loving wife, Katherine "Kitty" Mueller of Melrose; children, Diane (Jim) Bé�sl of Sauk Centre, David (Karen) Mueller of Freeport, Joyce (Roger Gullette) Mueller of Waite Park, Steve (Lila) Mueller of Freeport, Kenneth Mueller of Melrose, John (Kristi) Mueller of Melrose, Joan (Keith) Sand of Avon, Janel (Joel) Gray of St. Cloud, and Jamie (Shannon) Mueller of Melrose; 23 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren with one due in August; and sister-in-law, Mildred Mueller of Melrose.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lawrence Mueller and Joseph Mueller; and sisters, Loretta (Edward) Frieler, Mary Mueller, Agnes (Boniface) Hinnenkamp, Adella (Herb) Thelen, and Irene (Ronald) Shay.
Serving as casket bearers will be his grandsons, Michael Bé�sl, Brandon Bé�sl, D.J. Orth, Aaron Mueller, Justin Mueller, Nathan Mueller, and Daniel Mueller. Cross bearer will be Mckenna Mueller and scripture bearer will be Jennifer Steinemann.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
