Edna B. Goebel, age 95, of Grey Eagle, died Monday, January 19, 2009 at her nephew's home in Alexandria Township, Douglas County, Minnesota.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, January 24 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Grey Eagle with Rev. Ron Tibbetts officiating. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Grey Eagle.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church in Grey Eagle on Saturday.
Edna Goebel was born August 10, 1913 in Grey Eagle, Minnesota to Gustav and Bertha (Grau) Rueckert. She married Herbert Goebel on October 9, 1953 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Grey Eagle. The couple farmed in Round Prairie Township, Todd County, Minnesota. She worked as a telephone operator for many years in Grey Eagle and a waitress at Boston Café in Grey Eagle. Edna was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Ladies Aid and active in many church groups. She enjoyed gardening and crocheting.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Joyce Stump, Carol Tesar, Randy Schultz, Rita Faye Fisher, Shirley Hammje and John Hammje; and many grand nieces and nephews.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herbert Goebel on December 24, 1996; sisters, Ethel Schultz, Dorothy Feierabend and Esther Hammje.
Serving as casket bearers will be Greg Fisher, Bruce Cherveny, Jerry Fisher, Nick Hammje, Ted Haar and LeRoy Pohlmann.
