Edna A. Boeckermann, age 88 of St. Francis, died Tuesday, September 10, 2019 surrounded by her family at the Mother of Mercy Nursing Home in Albany, Minnesota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 13 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in St. Francis with Rev. Jeremy Theis officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church in St. Francis. Parish prayers will be at 4:30 p.m. followed by St. Francis Christian Mothers at 6 p.m. Thursday evening at the church.
Edna Ann Hoeschen was born August 21, 1931 in Millwood Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Peter and Walburga (Rueter) Hoeschen. She attended Flowing Well Country School through the eighth grade and completed ninth grade at Melrose High School. On May 13, 1952 she married Anthony Boeckermann at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport. The couple farmed east of Upsala for 12 years and then moved east of St. Francis and farmed there until their retirement in 1989.
Edna was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and the St. Francis Christian Mothers. She enjoyed baking, cooking, sewing, crafting, fishing, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Gerald (Mary Jane) Boeckermann of St. Francis, Donna (Marvin) Rakotz of St. James, Allan (Maggie) Boeckermann of Glencoe, and Pete (Joan) Boeckermann of Albany; 18 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren; and sister, Elizabeth Studer of Albany.
Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Tony Boeckermann on November 26, 2011; parents; brothers, Ben and Claude Hoeschen; sister, Lorraine Boeckers; brothers-in-law, Arnold Boeckers and Roger Studer; and great-grandchildren, Brady Rademacher, Paul Boeckermann, and DayzeeMae Rakotz.
Serving as casket bearers will be Russ Boeckermann, Rich Boeckermann, Tim Rakotz, Tom Rakotz, Jon Boeckermann, David Boeckermann, Zac Boeckermann, and Noah Boeckermann, Cross bearer will be Tony Rakotz and scripture bearer will be Julie Lange. Mass servers will be Anthony and Hunter Boeckermann. Readers will be Maggie Boeckermann, Holly Roelike, and Jennifer Rademacher. Gift bearers will be Gretchen Wolbeck and Sue Rademacher. Eucharistic Minister will be Mary Jane Boeckermann. Honorary bearers will be St. Francis Christian Mothers.
