Edmund "Eddie" Wehlage, age 86 of Greenwald, died Thursday, November 16, 2006 at Pine Villa Care Center in Melrose, Minnesota.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Monday, November 20 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Greenwald. Rev. Pascal Oungo and Rev. Ken Thielman will concelebrate with interment following in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m. Sunday evening followed by Knights of Columbus and St. Andrew's Catholic Aid at 7:30 p.m.

Edmund "Eddie" Wehlage was born January 20, 1920 in Getty Township, Stearns County to Joseph and Anna (Petermeier) Wehlage. On June 5, 1945 he was married to Dolores (Schwieters) Wehlage in Greenwald. The couple farmed three miles west of Greenwald and retired in 1981, when they moved to Greenwald. Since 2004 he had resided at Pine Villa Care Center in Melrose.Edmund was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church, St. Michael's Men's Society and Council 1633 Knights of Columbus of Melrose. He enjoyed the outdoors which included hunting, spearing and summer fishing. He will be dearly missed by his family.

Survivors include children, Karen Rademacher (Richard) of New Munich, Jane Bierschbach (Marvin) of St. Joseph, John Wehlage (Sandra) of Rockville, James Wehlage (Ruth) of Greenwald, Ruth Searcy (David) of Sauk Centre, Joan Johnson (Kevin) of Coon Rapids and Robert Wehlage (Judy) of Greenwald; 27 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; sister, Selma Tschida of Meire Grove.

Edmund was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dolores Wehlage on January 6, 2005; and brothers, Henry and Norbert Wehlage.

Serving as casket bearers will be Gary Rademacher, Keith Bierschbach, Danny and Adam Wehlage, Chris Searcy and Sam Johnson. Cross bearer will be Steve Wehlage and the scripture bearer will be Aaron Wehlage. Honorary bearers will be St. Michael's Men's Society.
