Edith B. Gamradt, age 81 of Sauk Centre, died peacefully Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at St. Michael's Hospital in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, March 3 at Zion Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre. Vicar Marty Porter will officiate with interment following in Greenwood Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre and at the church Saturday one hour prior to the service.
Edith Gamradt was born October 26, 1925 in Melrose Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Richard and Vera (McDougle) Farrow. On May 12, 1942 she married Gerhard Gamradt at Zion Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre. The couple farmed in Melrose Township, Stearns County before retiring in 1980 and moving to Sauk Centre. Since August of 2004 she had resided at St. Michael's Nursing Home in Sauk Centre.She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid and Sauk Centre Seniors. For many years she had volunteered at the Senior Dining Site and the Sauk Area Senior Centre.Edith enjoyed gardening, baking, canning, music and dancing, traveling, playing BINGO, cards, working on puzzles and laughing with family and friends. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and the rest of her family.
Survivors include eight children, Norma (Ray) Karasch of Sauk Centre, David (Sharon) Gamradt of Sauk Centre, Allen (Judy) Gamradt of Sauk Centre, Linda Kohorst of Alexandria, Sandra (Tom) Zehrer of Sauk Centre, Julie (Randy Reuter) Gamradt of Barneveld, Wisconsin, James (Brenda) Gamradt of Sauk Centre and Michael (Boni) Gamradt of Sauk Centre; 24 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gerhard on May 26, 2000; infant son, Gary; brothers and sisters, Robert, Floyd, Russell and Clyde Farrow, Lillian Gamradt and Alvina Gamradt.
Serving as casket bearers will be Lyle, Daryl, and Mitchell Karasch, Joe, Neal, and Zachary Gamradt, Matt Kohorst, Anna Zehrer, Jerod Reuter, and Shawn Farrow.Honorary bearer will be the Ladie's Aid and neighbors.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Zion Lutheran Church.
