Dr. Earl A. Krebs, age 80 of Sauk Centre, died Sunday, April 3, 2005 at St. Benedict's Senior Community in St. Cloud.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 7 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Military honors will be provided by the Sauk Centre United Veterans Honor Guard with interment following in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 8 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. United Veterans prayer service will be at 7 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 8 p.m. and Knights of Columbus at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Earl Krebs was born June 11, 1924 in Albany, Minnesota to Albert and Ann (Winter) Krebs. He was a graduate of Albany High School and attended St. John's University. He served as a pilot in the U.S. Navy during World War II. On July 9, 1947 he married Regina "Jean" Cramer in Albany. He graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 1950 and began his dental practice in Sauk Centre. He retired in 1987 after 37 years of practice. Since June of 2003 he had resided at St. Benedict's Senior Community.
He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church and Bishop Busch Council 4863 Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Minnesota Dental Association, American Legion Post 67 and the Sauk Centre Lions Club. He was a recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellowship from Lions. He had served as president of the Sauk Centre Area Chamber of Commerce and Sauk Centre Jaycees and on the Holy Family School Board. For 11 years he had served as a missionary dentist in Canada and the Arctic.
Earl was a founding member of Boy Scout Troop 25 of Sauk Centre and served as troop leader for more than 25 years. He is an Eagle Scout, a Vigil member of the Order of the Arrow, a recipient of the Scouter of the Year Award, the Silver Beaver Award and the Medal of St. George. He had the distinction of having 12 scouts presented their Eagle Scout Award at a single court of honor.
Survivors include his wife, Regina "Jean" Krebs of Sauk Centre; five children, David (Lisa) Krebs of Sartell, Mary Biersach of Brainerd, Dan Krebs of Albany, Patty (Steve) Domine of St. Cloud and Carol Thompson of Menomonie, Wisconsin; 17 grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Lillian Rivers of Waite Park, Ione Woessner of Sleepy Eye and Dr. Allan (Rose) Krebs of Jackson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Linda Jeanne Earle.
Serving as casket bearers will be Adam and Noah Krebs, Bob and Ross Brezinka, Brian Domine, Ryan Engdahl, Michael Thompson, Stephen and Daniel Earle. Cross bearer will be Luke Thompson. Honorary bearers will be member of the University of Minnesota Dental Class of 1950, Sauk Centre Lions Club, Boy Scout Troop 25 of Sauk Centre, Drs. David Mayer, Michael Long and John Pike.
