Dwight W. "Winty" Holmgren, age 65 of St. Paul, formerly of Upsala, died peacefully on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at his home in St. Paul, Minnesota.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, August 9 at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose with Rev. Gary Taylor officiating. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Grey Eagle.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home in Melrose.
Dwight Winton Holmgren was born September 24, 1947 in Upsala, Minnesota to Herbert and Evelyn Holmgren. On July 8, 1995 he married Rhea Lyon at their home in St. Paul. Dwight worked as an auditor for the State of Minnesota for 35 years and retired in 2008.
Winty enjoyed listening to music, tending his flowers, hunting, fishing, and camping.
Survivors include his wife, Rhea Holmgren of St. Paul; step-children, Robin (Maynard) Zierden of Freeport and Dan (Dianne Welsh) Ilgen of Pine City; step-grandchildren, Ashley, Alex, and Alyssa; brother and sister, Kenny (Naomi) and Sandra (Jim); several nieces and nephews; and his beloved cats, Ginger, Tammy, and Midnight.
Dwight was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Beatrice Holmgren.
Serving as casket bearers will be Maynard Zierden, Alex Zierden, Dan Ilgen, and Nick Rosenow.
