Duane A. Ehnes, age 66, of Sauk Centre, died Sunday, May 28, 2006, after a courageous battle with cancer, at his home in Kandota Township, Todd County, Minnesota.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 2, 2006 at First Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Rebecca Thomas officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Sauk Centre United Veterans Honor Guard. Burial will follow in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Eagle Bend.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the First Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre.
Duane A. Ehnes was born April 30, 1940 in Bertha, Minnesota to Arthur and Bernadine (Hukriede) Ehnes. He graduated from high school in 1958 and attended 1 year of college at William & Mary in Virginia. Duane served 3 years in the US Army. He married Barbara J. Vnuk on July 27, 1963 in Minneapolis. Duane was employed by Control Data, the IRS, and Blue Cross/Blue Shield as a Senior Systems Analyst. He enjoyed walking outdoors, tending to his lawn and garden and his street rod. Duane was a member of First Lutheran Church, Sauk Centre; Minnesota Street Rod Association and the American Legion in Chaska.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Ehnes of Sauk Centre; children, Vicki Shurson (Thomas) of Chanhassen and Scott Ehnes (Elisha) of Germantown, Maryland; brothers, Luverne Ehnes (Elda) of Denver, Colorado, Leroy Ehnes (Carolyn) of Blaine, Minnesota, and Delbert Ehnes (Joyce) of Clarissa, Minnesota; 5 grandchildren, Graham, Lauren, Gavin, Abigael and Maximillian.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and nephew, Jason Ehnes.Casket bearers will be Graham Shurson, Lance Ehnes, Josh Ehnes, David Imholte, Robin Sheeley, and Tony Engresser. Honorary bearers will be Lauren Shurson, Gavin Shurson, Abigael McClelland and Maximillian McClelland.
