Duane Ecklund

Duane R. Ecklund, age 77 of Sauk Centre, died Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at his home in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.

Duane Richard Ecklund was born October 15, 1934 in Birchdale Township, Todd County, Minnesota to Carl and Mary (Ahrens) Ecklund. Duane attended the Diamond Country School in Todd County. He helped on the farm and then in 1956 served in the U.S. Army for two years, stationed in Germany. On February 4, 1961 he married Margaret Lindback and they made their home in Little Sauk and later in Sauk Centre.Duane was an over-the-road truck driver for Enright, Roquette, Trierweiler and Pettit Trucking. He also built silos for Hanson Silo Company and drove gas transports for Gebeke, Loxtercamp, Stormy and Kane.

Duane is survived by his wife of 51 years, Margaret Ecklund of Sauk Centre; three children, Joe (Cindy) Ecklund of Long Prairie, Jean (Paul) Madsen of Saginaw, and Kelly (Kathy) Ecklund of Minnetrista; eight grandchildren, Shane, Nicole and Bryce Ecklund, Emily Madsen, Kasey, Aaron, Sophia and Kyra Ecklund; two great-grandchildren, Christopher and Ryan Ecklund; father, Carl Ecklund of Sauk Centre; brothers and sisters, Eugene (Dorothy) Ecklund of Moorhead, Elaine (Rudy) Beste of Sauk Centre, Raymond Ecklund of Clarissa, and Vera (Dick) Zagar of Hugo; brother-in-law, Vernon (Marsha) Lindback of Farmington; sisters-in-law, Lois (Don) Weiner of Sauk Centre, Sharon (Harold) Walters of Osakis, and Muriel Lindback of Morris; many nieces and nephews.

Duane was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ecklund; father and mother-in-law, Harry and Martha Lindback; sisters-in-law, Essie Ecklund and Carol Lindback; brother-in-law, Harvey Lindback; and nephew, Scott Ecklund.
