Douglas E. "Doug" Kuehne, age 68 of Avon, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, June 28, 2013 after a short battle with cancer at the VA Medical Center in St. Cloud, Minnesota.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 2 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Albany with Rev. Bradley Pearson officiating. Private family entombment will be at a later date in Our Savior's Lutheran Cemetery in Albany. Military honors will be by the Albany Legion Honor Guard.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church in Albany.

Douglas Edmund Kuehne was born August 18, 1944 in Burnhamville Township, Todd County, Minnesota to Edmund and Vera (Raatz) Kuehne. He joined the Air Force after high school. He married Carolyn Brandvold in December of 1964; they later divorced. Doug tried farming and later joined the Army National Guard. While in the Guard, he tried various jobs including working in the Texas oil fields for two years and working part-time at Camp Ripley in Little Falls. He retired from the military. On June 29, 2002 Doug married Doris (Bolz) Trisko at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Albany.

Doug was an avid world traveler. Some of the countries include: Germany, Virgin Islands, Panama, and England. He enjoyed traveling in his small RV to major cities across the U.S. Later, he went to Alaska and Hawaii. Doug enjoyed coin collecting, woodworking, and soaking up the sun in southern Texas during the winter months. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Albany where he was an usher and an exceptional dishwasher. Doug was the kind of guy everyone loved and respected. He truly made everyone laugh!

Survivors include his wife, Doris Trisko-Kuehne of Avon; children, Janice (Dan) Lewandowski of Fort Dodge, IA, Carl Kuehne of Pierz, Glenn (Angie) Kuehne of Duluth; step-children, Shelly (Jim) Austin of Wasilla, AK, Brian Trisko of Champlin, Darryl (Nao) Trisko of San Jose, CA, and Jennifer (Jeff) Sellner of Eagan; eight grandchildren and six step-grandchildren; sisters and brother, Judy (George) Smith of Aurora, CO, Richard (Christine) Kuehne of Gill, CO, and Barbara (Steve) Anderson of Shafer.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents.

Serving as casket bearers will be Doug's cousins, Bob Kuehne, Art Bliese, Gene Bliese, Dan Kuehne, Dale Lambrecht, and Gary Allen. Honorary bearers will be Ken Ebnet, Jim Strausberg, Larry Trisko, Ben Schwinghammer, Travis Falk, Jordan Hahn, and Art Beuning. Eulogy will be read by Jacqui Sene.
