Dorthy A. Terhaar, age 70 of Sauk Centre, died on Tuesday, February 17, 2004 at her home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 21 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Rev. Todd Schneider will officiate with interment following in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Sedan.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers will be at 5:30 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
Dorthy Terhaar was born on September 4, 1933 in Roberts County, South Dakota to Jesse and Julia (Sandman) Goodwalt. On September 19, 1950 she married Edmund Terhaar in Glenwood. The couple resided in Pope County before moving to San Diego, California in 1959. There Dorthy raised her five children and also worked as a waitress. In 1998 the couple retired and moved back to Minnesota. Since 2000 she had resided in Sauk Centre, where she was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church.
Survivors include five children, Ron (Ginger) Terhaar of Long Prairie, Debbie Terhaar of St. Cloud, Vivian Terhaar of Willmar, Brenda (Steve) Rademacher of Melrose, and Mark (Joan) Terhaar of San Diego, California; 13 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Rose Searcy and Frances Terhaar, both of Sauk Centre, Elsie Kill of Benson, Vernon (Karen) Goodwalt of Riverside, California and Jerry (Jan) Goodwalt of Minneapolis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edmund on April 3, 1999; and brother, Jesse Goodwalt, Jr.
Serving as casket bearers will be Jessica Hill, Pat Terhaar, John Searcy, Alfred Kill, Adam Goodwalt and Paul Hetland. Cross bearer will be Elsie Kill and honorary bearer will be Kevin Rademacher, Andrew, Joseph, Eric, Kenneth and Keenan Terhaar.
