Dorothy A. Nathe, age 86 of Sauk Centre, died Monday, March 15, 2010 at St. Michael's Nursing Home in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 18, 2010 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Rev. Todd Schneider will officiate and Rev. Tim Wenzel will concelebrate. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers will be at 5:15 p.m. followed by the Christian Mothers at 7 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Dorothy Alvina Younkin was born February 16, 1924 in Paynesville, Minnesota to Clarence and Otillia (Hartman) Younkin. She was united in marriage to Leo Nathe on April 14, 1942 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Dorothy lived and farmed in the Sauk Centre area from 1942 to 1973 and was employed at Fingerhut for 25 years.
She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre and the Christian Mothers. Dorothy loved spending time with her grandchildren and making them flannel pajamas. Dorothy also enjoyed sewing, gardening, and canning.
Survivors include her children, Helen (Harold) Fritzlar of Sauk Centre, Ruthann (Robert) Rieland of Sauk Centre, Donna (Eugene) Illies of Elrosa, James (Anne) Nathe of Osakis, Frank Nathe of Avon, Alfred (Clara) Nathe of Melrose, William (Georgine) Nathe of Freeport and Charles (Barb) Nathe of New Munich; 29 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Herbert (Alice) Younkin of Paynesville; and sister, Lois (Wilfred) Kulzer of Paynesville.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Leo C. Nathe on January 31, 2002; parents; three infant sons; two grandchildren, Cindy Fritzlar and John Illies; brothers and sisters, Leo Younkin, Evelyn Miller, Philip Younkin, Georgia (Jean) Nelson, Bernice Hester, Helen Jeske, Donald Younkin, Richard Younkin, Luverne Younkin, Marjorie Marihart, Robert Younkin, and Kenneth Younkin; and daughter-in-law, Eileen Nathe.
Casket bearers will be David Rieland, Tim Nathe, Jody Nathe, Jeff Nathe, Bill Nathe, Jr., and Roger Fritzlar. Cross bearer will be Bryce Nathe and scripture bearer will be Nancy Lingle. Honorary bearers will be the St. Paul's Christian Mothers.
