Dorothy M. Korte, age 89, of Melrose, died peacefully, May 26, 2006 at the Pine Villa Care Center in Melrose.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2006 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Melrose with Rev. Vince Lieser and Rev. Ken Thielman concelebrating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Parish prayers will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home in Melrose.

Dorothy Korte was born Nov. 30, 1916 in Greenwald, Minnesota to Michael and Gertrude (Lippsmeyer) Kolb. She married Werner H. Korte on June 14, 1941 in Melrose. They lived in Melrose where she loved to play scrabble, cards, embroider and cook. She loved to be with her family and visit with people. Dorothy was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, Catholic Order of Foresters, St. Elizabeth's Society, American Legion Post 101 Auxiliary, St. Mary's Mission Society and Christian Mothers.

Survivors include her children, Patrick Korte (Linda) of Elk River, Joyce Foster (Prentiss) of St. Cloud, Harvey Korte (Patricia) of Chaska, and LeRoy Korte (Terri) of Willits, CA; sister, Donna Youso of Anoka; brother, Claude Kolb (Dorothy) of Shakopee; 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Werner Korte on May 7, 1991; sister, Jean Kolb, and 1 grandson, Mikin Korte.Casket bearers will be Scott, Todd and Michael Foster, Chase, Joel, Maria and Nell Korte, and John Rempfer. Cross bearer will be Becky O'Neil. Scripture bearer will be Darlene Chock.
