Dorothy Jacobs

Dorothy K. Jacobs, age 90 of Grey Eagle died Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at the Melrose Area Hospital.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 21 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grey Eagle with Rev. Arlie Sowada officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Joseph's chapel in Grey Eagle. Christian Mothers will pray at 6 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 7 p.m. Friday evening.

Dorothy Jacobs was born October 22, 1914 in Birchdale Township, Todd County, Minnesota to Nicholas and Mae (Pluth) Berscheid. She was united in marriage to James Prodinsky and after he died she married Adrian Jacobs. Dorothy was a longtime resident of Grey Eagle. She worked at Peschel's Hardware Store, now known as Bitz's Hardware, for many years. She later helped her daughter and son-in-law with their hardware store for 4 years. She enjoyed quilting, knitting, playing cards, reading, and watching her favorite program, Wheel of Fortune. Dorothy was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grey Eagle and the Christian Mothers.

Survivors include her children, Jane Ilgen and her husband, Dale of Grantsburg, WI, Jim Prodinsky and his wife, Carol of Melrose and Carol Bhagroo and her husband, Deon of Andover; 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; brother, Eddie Berscheid and his wife, Rosie.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas and Mae Berscheid; first husband, James Prodinsky; second husband, Adrian Jacobs; son, Martin Prodinsky; granddaughter, Jaci Ilgen; grandson, Michael Bhagroo; brothers, Donald, Arnold, Clarence, and Julian Berscheid; and sister, Lorene Bitz.

Serving as casket bearers will be Brett Ilgen, Nick Bhagroo, Brian Prodinsky, Joe Prodinsky, Jason Prodinsky, and Michael Prodinsky. Serving as cross bearer will be Kevin Prodinsky and scripture bearer will be Julie Prodinsky. Honorary bearers will be the Christian Mothers.
