Dorothy Hertzog

Dorothy M. Hertzog, age 78 of Grey Eagle, died Sunday, December 20, 2009 at the Albany Area Hospital in Albany, Minnesota.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 23 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose with Rev. Vince Lieser officiating. Inurnment will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose.

Dorothy Marie Corr was born April 9, 1931 in Winsted, Minnesota to Charles and Cecilia (Otto) Corr. She was united in marriage to Francis "Fran" Hertzog on September 22, 1950 in Burns, Oregon. Dorothy received her teaching degree from the College of St. Benedict and was an oblate for St. Ben's as well. She was a teacher at St. Mary's School and raised four children.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose. Dorothy enjoyed traveling and gardening, but most of all loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband, Francis "Fran" Hertzog of Grey Eagle; children, Barb (George) McClure of Grey Eagle, Beth Gall of Fargo, and Michael (Cyndy) Hertzog of Bozeman, Montana; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sister, Carol Riding of Altoona, Iowa; and brother, Dick (Ilene) Corr of Burnsville.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Therese Hertzog; and brother, Gary Corr.

Serving as urn bearer will be Sarah Heimstead.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose.
