Dorothy C. Haider, age 78 of Elrosa, died Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 7 at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Elrosa with Rev. Jeff Ethen officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Christian Mothers and the Catholic Aid Society will pray at 6:30 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 7:30 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
Dorothy Haider was born on September 14, 1930 in Greenwald, Minnesota to George and Hildegard Meyer. She was united in marriage to Leander Haider on September 4, 1950 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Greenwald. The couple farmed south of Elrosa until 1976 when they moved to town. The couple spent their winters in Arizona. She was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Elrosa, Christian Mothers, and the Catholic Aid Society. Dorothy enjoyed sewing, quilting, playing cards, and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Gary (Kathy) Haider of Elrosa, Karen (Larry) Thostenson of Melrose, Jean (Curt) Larson of Willmar, Joan (Rollie) Hoven of Camarillo, CA, and Brenda (George) Kochmann of Paynesville; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Julian Meyer of Sauk Centre, Bernard (Jane) Meyer of Sauk Centre, Cletus Meyer of Greenwald, Roger (Sarah) Meyer of Pittsburg, PA, Gordon (Myrna) Meyer of Burnsville, Mary (Bill) Kobilka of Forest Lake, Judy (Dick) Trombly of Minnetonka, and Jane (Jack) Meyer-Ditmore of Minneapolis.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leander Haider on March 29, 2004; brothers, Eugene and Ronald Meyer.
Serving as casket bearers will be Brad Haider, Todd Haider, Shawn Hoven, Tyler Kochmann, Dustin Thostenson, and Peter Johnson. Cross bearer will be Angela Friedrichs and scripture bearer will be Jaime Larson. Serving as readers will be Shanna Schiffler, Tiffany Hoven, and Tessa Beuning. Gift bearers will be Breana Kochmann, Alysha Hoven, and Ashley Johnson.
